Coolant Temperature Sensor/CTS/ECT

Measures the temperature in the cooling system, so the ECM can make adjustments based on the engine's  operating temperature.         sensor

Problems with this sensor can cause hard starting, poor mileage and poor performance.
If it tells the computer that the engine temperature is 100 degrees when you try and start the car in cold weather, it may not start. Sometimes a code for this sensor can actually be a bad thermostat or cooling system problem.
